As it was previously mentioned
on yesterday's news, Telefon Tel Aviv, who has made an incredible
name for themselves with the help of Nine Inch Nails' very
own Danny Lohner on many NIN remixes, has composed a score
for Kyle Cooper's debut film "New Port South," shot at the
Community High
School District 128* in the dead of winter in Chicago
on Touchstone Pictures. TTA's remix vision of Nine Inch
Nails' base driven "Even Deeper" will be included on the
soundtrack scheduled for release in September, says Charlie
Cooper of Telefon Tel Aviv. (See, "Telefon
Tel Aviv Score Soundtrack; Said Feature NIN Remixes"
for more info.)
Kyle Cooper, known more for
his much-aped title sequence for the movie Seven, which
features the Coil driven remix of NIN's "Closer," has graced
us with his impressive Imaginary
Forces Network, his graphics studio that revolutionized
the way we look at main title sequences in films. Although
the company has lived most of its life executing work for
others and has precious little web experience, they hope
to make their web splash with an official website for "New
Port South" in the near future.
Check out this special Adobe
Gallery feature on Kyle Cooper's many main title sequences
including "Seven," in both stills and quicktime format.
His work also graces many other impressive titles such as
Men in Black, Mission Impossible, The Island of Doctor Moreau,
Wild Wild West, The Horse Whisperer, Arlington Road, The
Avengers, The Mummy, The Mask of Zorro, Twister, Mimic,
Eraser, Braveheart, True Lies, and Donnie Brasco to just
name a few. His latest work even graces us live everyday
on the city walls of New York's Time Square!
Here is a quick synopsis of
the film provided by New
Port South section on Movies.com
"A John Hughes production
in more ways than one, this teen drama, produced by Hughes
and written by his son, puts a road-movie twist on Hughes'
classic teen movies of the 1980s. Starting in Hughesland
in the Illinois suburbs, it centers on a group of teen rebels
who ditch their school for a roap trip to California, finding
fun and danger along the way. Hughes hasn't made a teen
movie since 1987, when "Some Kind of Wonderful" was his
sixth teen movie in three years, so expectations are high
for New Port South to recapture the Hughes magic for his
no-longer-teenage audience."
For those who want consistent
updates about the film, which I may not be able to supply
all the time, can check out the John
Hughes Files, which also includes a plot summary a few
clicks down the main page.
