Claudia Sarnes, front women
of 12 Rounds, has once again returned to her official
message board after the longest time from inside her
Los Angeles studio. As work continues on their follow-up
album to their 1996 release "Pleasant Smell", Sarnes mentioned
here
she went through everyone's cover song suggestions recently
for the new album. Although she has yet to come to a conclusion,
she has some ideas.
"A couple of months back I
painstakingly went through them and fantastically inventive
that they were, we actually tried to do some, it just wasn't
really working out," she said. "In fact, we tried on one
occasion Let's Dance just because it would probably
be the least obvious and would probably piss SOMEONE off
and sounded good but wasn't really us," she said, frowning
on the idea. "I'm still considering a Nina Simone track
and one other by a band called The Passions...we'll see.."
"The cover thing was really
meant as an extracurricular activity," she continued, "most
likely for you guys, as you seem to be the ones foolish
enough to come back for more and we wanted to thank you
for that. More will most likely be revealed on that front."
Now located in a new undisclosed
recording studio, great things are underway for the band
and their third album. Such things involve their album mixing
confrontation with Atticus in New Orleans and the new involvement
with Dave "Rave" Ogilvie.
"We moved studios (again)
and now have a situation that works WAY better for us, oh
and I'm just on my way to meet Atticus in New Orleans where
we BEGIN THE MIX," she explained. "What occurred was that
someone was saying they'd do it and kept putting us off
and off (an affair lasting 6 months) and finally they dissed
us and now Dave Ogilvie is behind the board (as we speak
so to say) with counsel from our favourite dark man. I'm
leaving in an hour and so fucking excited I can barely believe
it. I haven't really slept for a while and got the fire
in my belly after more than long enough of waiting. You
gotta be lucky," she added. "We're doing this 3x3 week sessions,
and so, with that in mind, I must go and look like I know
what I'm doing and get on the flight."
As more information becomes
available, bone-up on some past 12 Rounds goodies thanks
to audio downloads from their official
site.
Thanks a lot to:
