For the longest time, there's
been talk of Trent Reznor composing a score for "Survivor,"
one of Chuck Palahniuk's latest novels soon to turn to the
big screen, but that is all that it has been. Since Trent's
first impression on the Fight Club Author when they first
met backstage during the Fragility v2.0 tour, Palahniuk
has overly expressed multiple times how exciting it would
be to work with someone who has inspired him so much to
write his novels so incredibly.
Unfortunately, since that
meeting took place a year ago, there hasn't been any new
confirmation that Trent Reznor will actually score the film.
At the moment, the film adaptation rests in limbo until
it has been picked-up by a major film studio. Until these
key events take place, we may never know when there will
be any new information pertaining to the Reznor written
score.
According to Jon who ran into
Chuck Palahniuk in Glasgow, Scotland, who was promoting
his latest novel "Choke," briefly spoke to him prior to
the event about the status of the film and the score.
"I got there before the event
started and Chuck was standing about with staff and I asked
him about the Survivor film," Jon said. "He said that Gwynneth
Paltrow's brother has penned the script and the film is
being taken to various agencies/producers etc."
"He said that the film was
highly unlikely to be produced by Fox as Fight Club was
as "one of the Fox heads hated Fight Club" and therefore
will be unlikely that Fincher will be on the helm," he continued.
"So the movie isn't a definite go yet, but the script is
penned and Chuck said it's great..."
What about Trent Reznor's
involvement with the soundtrack? Chuck said, "well that's
the promise [I was told], I asked what he thought and Trent
said yes... lets hope that sticks."
Later, after the book reading,
some questions were fired off, one of which was about the
Survivor soundtrack again, which Chuck abbreviated to "Trent
wants to do it and I said hell yeah! Like man, I kiss your
fuckin feet!".
"He also mentioned that track
3 of Fixed drives his flatmates mad because its on like
for a month at a time on solid repeat," Jon said.
