how did so-and-so get ops?
it's actually quite simple. the folks with a @ in front of their name are channel operators, or "ops" for short.
they have ops for one of two reasons:
first, they are a permanent op - their name appears above the chat box
because they were given the permanent job of keeping the channel in order. they got it by talking to the webmaster
and getting references from other chatters. any time they are chatting they will have ops.
second, someone gave them temporary ops. ops can give make other people ops using a special command. if an op
has too much work to do - he/she may give another person ops to help out with the situation.
if you want ops, don't ask another op. the operators don't appreciate it and they probably have better things to
do. if the op needs help, he/she will let you know. thanks
