Great news for all those
anticipating the Fragility documentary. A source,
close to the band, was recently informed that Nine
Inch Nails' engineer/programmer Keith Hillebrandt
is currently in New York mastering the long awaited
DVD/VHS/CD. Although there was no title or time frame
given, "at least there is hope for a release date
after mastering is complete," explained my source.
Mastering, as stated
before, is the final creative and technical step prior
to pressing a record album (CD, DVD, cassette, or
other medium). Most people are familiar with the idea
of recording music in a live concert or recording
studio. You make tapes that store the individual performances,
or takes. Ultimately these takes are assembled into
a final master tape. This is sent to a replication
plant, where copies are made. The process of creating
the final master is called mastering.
I wouldn't be surprised
if we hear new information regarding the documentry
from the official nin site in the next day or two,
but before that happens, I plan to retreive as many
new details as possible.
