Ozzfest Welcomes Marilyn Manson With Open Arms
Updated 06.11.2001 12:00 AM EDT

The first couple of Ozzfest dates have come and gone and James was glad to see that not only did Marilyn Manson blow the rest of the bands off the stage, but even those who had booed them earlier when they were mentioned over the P.A., were singing his praises by the end of the show.

"Manson played a mostly heavy set with the exception of sweet dreams and cruci-fiction in space, which are slow but evoked a hell of a response from the predominantly metal crowd," he said. "About 1/6 of the crowd filtered out of the venues after Manson. A few simply stating... "We've seen the best, so fuck the rest"...

"Another observation from Ozzfest was that gODHEAD drew the biggest crowd on their stage," he mentioned. "I spoke briefly with Sharron (Osbourne) after thier set and she was completely impressed. I was however disappointed by the fact that Manson didn't come out for Break You Down, but Mike Miller (guitarist) said that he still plans to on later dates once he has acclimated himself to the tour."
