Wednesday,
December 13, 00 - 6:00 pm EST Kevin McMahon who was once the leader of Cleveland band Lucky Pierre, for whom Trent played and John Malm managed in mid-'80s; formed Prick in '90s, released one self-titled CD in '95 on Nothing Records with 4 songs produced by Trent. Lucky Pierre was a Cleveland based new wave band formed in '78 when singer/guitarist/songwriter Kevin McMahon sent a demo tape to bassist Tom Lash, then Music Director of WCSB. Lucky Pierre broke up in '82, then reunited in mid-'80s with Trent on keyboards. When Prick opened for Nine Inch Nails during the early 90s, the band consisted of Kevin McMahon-guitars & vocals, Chris Schleyer-lead guitar, Sebastien Monney-bass and Andy Kubiszewski (Exotic Birds and Stabbing Westward)-drums. It was reported that in December of 96, Kevin went to London to start work on his next Prick release. About six songs were recorded, which is believed to be half of the long awaited follow up release. The only news heard from Prick in '97 was that his band members Chris Schleyer and Sebastien Monney, a friend to SLS News, quit the band and also that the next Prick project was to be called "Thorn." Kevin moved back to the states to continue recording. As of January 98, it was confirmed that Kevin was living in Ohio, and he recorded his next CD in his Home Studio. As of June 98, Kevin and Garret Hammond were working on new material. We reported on September 17th, '98 that a good friend of mine named John Crawford actually ran into Kevin at an aftershow party following a 12 Rounds concert in LA on Monday, September 14th '98. Kevin chatted with John briefly and said Prick's new album is to be titled "Numb" and that they are right in the middle of it! On September 23rd, '99 a viewer by the name of Hoghunter managed to ask Trent Reznor a question on his official discussions boards whether or not Prick plans to continue working... "Odd talking about Prick with the Fragile just being released (wonderful album)," he said to Trent, "but I just have to know where is PRICK?? Is the new album ever coming out Are they (he) going to tour with NIN again?" Trent Reznor responded and said, "yes, very much so. Kevin is about to begin recording his next album with Dave Ogilvie right now! On November 6th, ''99 an online magazine at Eye.net reported that James Cavalluzzo from a Toronto band Malhavoc was scheduled to go to New Orleans that week to work with Dave "Rave" Ogilvie on the new Prick record. We reported on February 28th '00, another viewer by the name of Daniel happened to spot Trent Reznor shopping in his store early December '99 and also asked him what the latest news on Prick. "The only 'news' got was when I asked about Prick," explained Daniel. "His response was that they/he has some stuff in the works but nothing is set yet," said Daniel. Former Prick bassist, who current works under a new band called Amenpill in New York, Sebastien Monney commented to SLS News on March 8th, 00 that he's unaware of any new record from the long lost band. "I haven't been involved in Prick for quite awhile and I am unaware if a new record is in the making," he said, "but I do hope there will be a new record at some point, like everybody!" Since our reports, we haven't heard anything from the melodically manipulating Kevin McMahon. No release dates have been set and the future of Prick is unknown until today! Now five years later, from out of no where, we have learned fans can download the first release from Prick in mp3 format called "Wetcat" on the mother download mp3 website of all times at MP3.com. His free mp3 site offers a 3 minute 16 second sample of "Wetcat" as an actual high quality mp3 download or Lo Fi Play (24 kbps) and Hi Fi Play (128 kbps) streaming mp3 formats. Definitely take advantage of this extraordinary gift from the long lost nothing records ghost! By the way, once you download Prick's new bad-ass track, hop on over to our Prick disscussion board and spread word that Prick is back and better than ever! Below are all our headlines for the past three years we've reported about the band:
