Manson Interview San Francisco Chronicle Online
As we mentioned two days ago, Marilyn Manson was featured in Thursday's edition of the San Francisco Chronicle Datebook, which the site links to the entire article. Manson talks about his recent life, his influence on the world & music in general, and some other interesting facts.
Below is a blurb from the interview about his Holy Wood novel due out in February 2001:
Manson divided his time in the attic between writing the songs for the album and a novel, also titled "Holy Wood," which will come out next year. Thematically, the book will stick close to the disc, expanding on the thought-
provoking themes scratched with songs such as "Cruci-fiction in Space," instrumental opener "Godeatgod" and "Burning Flag," which Manson performs live through a bullhorn against the backdrop of a roasted American flag.
He's hoping it will clear up any lingering controversy."I don't find my new record to be particularly offensive,'' Manson says. "In the past I've definitely set out to provoke people. "Antichrist Superstar' was a lightning rod and one that was important to create, because I wanted to establish myself as a villain of sorts. It was a balance America needed. But now I've developed a stronger sense of subtlety. It's not outright shocking. A
lot of the things I did on this record are outright beautiful."
Thanks a lot to: Indacelio Kamzoil, Diana.
